Jonas Sims is an associate attorney at Leasor Crass, P.C., where he represents Texas public school districts across a range of education law matters. He brings to the firm a strong academic foundation, an impressive record in trial and appellate advocacy, and a personal connection to public education that informs every aspect of his work.
A native of Abilene, the Key City of West Texas, Jonas graduated summa cum laude from Hardin-Simmons University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Business and a minor in Honors. During his time at HSU, he was actively engaged in choir, Chorus Abilene a cappella groups, and theatre productions, and he competed in National Association of Teachers of Singing competitions.
Jonas earned his law degree from Baylor University School of Law in 2025, where he distinguished himself as a competitive trial and appellate advocate. He was a finalist in the Stetson University College of Law National Pretrial Competition, a quarterfinalist in the Pace University School of Law National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition, and a participant in the University of South Carolina School of Law Trial and Tribulations Mock Trial Competition. He further expanded his advocacy experience through two of Baylor Law’s study abroad programs, which led him to work with the juvenile justice nonprofit Undikumbukire Project Zambia in Lusaka, Zambia, and to earn the Top Advocate honor at the Academy of the Advocate at St. Andrews University, School of the Trial, in St. Andrews, Scotland. The advocacy skills Jonas developed through these experiences translate directly into value for school district clients, particularly in hearings, investigations, and contested matters.
As the son of a lifelong educator and the grandson of a retired special education instructor, Jonas brings a personal understanding of the demanding and meaningful work Texas educators perform every day, as well as a deep appreciation for the impact those educators have on the students they serve. That perspective informs his commitment to advocating effectively and thoughtfully for the school districts he represents.
Jonas lives in Fort Worth with his girlfriend and their two Shih Tzus. Outside of the office, he enjoys reading, cooking, Baylor football, and Texas Rangers baseball.
