Colby Rideout

Partner

Colby Rideout is a partner at Leasor Crass, P.C., where he focuses on representing Texas public school districts across the full range of legal issues that confront a modern school system. Drawing on extensive experience in civil litigation, Colby brings particular depth to school law matters involving contract and construction issues, constitutional questions, fiduciary obligations, and real estate and property disputes. He is also an experienced appellate attorney with a strong background in conflict resolution and risk management, allowing him to guide school district clients through pre-litigation, litigation, and appellate proceedings with confidence and continuity at every stage.

Colby graduated from Texas A&M University in 2007 and from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2010. Throughout his career, he has practiced in a wide variety of legal areas, including school law, government law, civil service law, administrative law, appellate law, construction law, employment law, commercial and business law, fiduciary law, consumer law, and property law. That breadth of experience translates directly into value for his school district clients. Whether the issue is a routine personnel matter, a complex construction dispute, an administrative appeal, or a constitutional question, Colby has handled comparable issues before and brings practical, well-tested judgment to each new matter.

In addition to his work with Texas public schools, Colby has represented government entities, individuals, and businesses of all sizes. That experience developed a well-rounded understanding of how the law operates across sectors, allowing him to anticipate the strategies and concerns of opposing parties when school districts find themselves on either side of a dispute. Equally important, Colby knows what it is like to be a client, and he brings that empathy to every engagement, communicating clearly, managing expectations honestly, and helping district leaders navigate legal matters with confidence.

Outside the office, Colby’s background reflects a lifelong commitment to public service. While at Texas A&M, he taught at a children’s camp in Crimea in 2004 and returned to Ukraine in 2006 for a United States Department of State internship in the Public Affairs Department, where he also volunteered as an election observer with OSCE in Rivne. His early commitment to service, education, and civic engagement continues to inform Colby’s approach to serving Texas school districts today.
