Ross Mitchell brings a distinct combination of legal experience and school risk management expertise to his practice at Leasor Crass, P.C., where he represents Texas public school districts across a wide range of education law matters. His career has been devoted almost entirely to the school setting, and the breadth of his work has given him a perspective on educational institutions that few attorneys possess.
A native of the small West Texas town of Van Horn, Ross is a graduate of Baylor University and South Texas College of Law. He began his legal career as an Associate Attorney at Tritico Rainey, PLLC, representing public school teachers in a variety of employment related matters. During that time, he worked extensively with school districts and firms in the Houston area and was actively involved in the School Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, building both his subject matter knowledge and his professional network within the school law community.
Ross later relocated to Dallas and joined Praesidium, a national risk management consulting firm where he served independent schools, public schools, universities, and other organizations across the United States and Canada. His work at Praesidium included client consultation, policy development, training, risk assessment, incident and file review, crisis management, board guidance, conference speaking engagements, and contributions to industry publications. That experience gave him a comprehensive understanding of how schools operate, where they are most vulnerable, and what proactive steps leadership can take to protect students, staff, and the institution itself.
That combined background, advocating for educators on the employment side, advising schools on risk and crisis management at the institutional level, and growing up in a small rural district himself, positions Ross to understand the issues and challenges facing today’s school districts from nearly every angle. He appreciates the opportunity to support districts of all sizes on a wide variety of matters, including Title IX, employment, student discipline, investigations, and special education.
Ross and his wife reside in Dallas with their children. He is a patient problem solver, a proud girl dad, and a lifelong Baylor sports fan.
